Touring the Hickory Aviation Museum in Hickory NC | Historic Military Planes We recently visited the Hickory Aviation Museum in Hickory, North Carolina , and I really didn't know just how much there was going to be to see until we got there. Before we even walked inside, the place made an impression. The museum's new facility is huge, and on the day we visited we had blue skies with the mountains visible in the distance. The museum is located at the Dale Earnhardt Regional Innovation Complex and is connected with Catawba Valley Community College as an educational facility. The new Hickory Aviation Museum facility opened in May 2026, so when we visited in August it had only been open for a few months. And you don't even have to make it through the front door before seeing aircraft.
